When life is stressful and problems start appearing, it's good to take a moment to take care of yourself. Practicing self-care is like practicing self-love. You do things that are good for your mind, body, and soul. You take care of your health and wellness. You take care of your body. Self-care gives you the time to get away from all the unnecessary stress and drama that everyone else gives you. Remember to think about yourself first and do things that are healing for you. Do what makes you feel happy, that's very healing.

Here are some of the 20 best self-care tips that I've been doing in my life in the last 5 years.

1. Eat healthy.
You are what you eat. Listen to what your body wants. Consume nutritional foods of fruits and vegetables in your body. They have plenty of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to stay healthy. Be good to your body and your body will be good for you. Give your body fruits and vegetables and your body will stay healthy for a very long time. Your body appreciates you for keeping it healthy.

2. Exercise.
It's abnormal to not move your body the whole day. It doesn't matter what type of exercise it is. Whether it's jogging, doing yoga, dancing, workout, or play sport as long as you're using your body. You gain energy from using energy, as my brother once told me. You'll feel so much better after exercising. You're less annoyed.

3. Say no to others.
If something feels uncomfortable and not right for your soul, then say no. Trust your intuition. Don't be influenced by other people's constant pressure. Stand up for yourself and say no to something that'll harm you and say yes to something that'll heal you. Saying no to an uncomfortable plan is healthy and very healing. It means you protect your soul.

4. Light a candle.
Lighting a candle in the evening is cozy and brings a sense of peace and tranquility. It's the gentle light from the candle that brings a mood of relaxation in the room.

5. Read a book.
If you can't travel, then you can travel mentally by reading a book and escape into another world. You can read a fiction book or a self-help book that'll help with your personal growth and self-esteem. Either way, find a good book as you end your day relaxing on the couch and transport into another world through the book.

6. Drink tea.
There is nothing cozier than drinking tea in the cold season. It's a good self-treat after coming home from a long day of work and school. Some tea flavors have benefits of relaxation and gives you a good night's sleep. Treat yourself with a cup of tea.

9. Meditate for 10 minutes every day.
Thoughts can come and haunt us with negative words. You are not your thoughts. Remember that. Work and school will stress you so much that you forgot what it's like to be mentally quiet in the present moment. Take 10 minutes to find a comfortable position and quiet your mind for 10 minutes. Put some relaxing music on, if it helps you to concentrate. Meditation helps with productivity, focus, and concentration. You'll feel less stressed out and less annoyed at the smallest things.

10. Write in your journal.
Use your journal as a way to write about whatever you want. Use it to write your thoughts down and keep the journal private for yourself only, if you feel like it. Write about what you can do better next time. Write down things you love about yourself. Write down the qualities you want in a partner. Perhaps write down the things you love about your current partner. When it comes to finding ideas as to what to write about, then just be creative. Just play with it.

11. List things you're grateful for.
When life becomes grey and you feel worthless, then start to list down things you're grateful in your everyday life. Who do you appreciate in your life? It doesn't matter if it's big or small.

Social media can affect you badly. It can stress you out with all the text messages and calls you're receiving. The sound of ringtone triggers you to be on your phone. You scroll down on your Instagram and see how everyone is living their life to the fullest. It's time to put your phone down. Take a break from it. Don't look at your phone the whole day.
